PostSubject: A Quiet Evening   Thu Dec 20, 2007 2:58 pm

There Is a shadow of a moon in the late evening as clouds gently drift over the greyish blue tint of the sky. Hebi lays a little way away from the pack looking up silently. She yawns and closes her eyes, apparently unaware of any fellow wolves around. She lays her head down and rests her eyes, being careful not to sleep and keeping her nose on red alert for any rouge wolves preying around. The night creeps in...

Darkening of the sky signals night time, and nocturnal animals to come creeping about. The wolf pack stirrs, but only slightly as they find places to rest and settle down. She notices one wolf, somewhat further away from the others, resisting sleep. A smirk crosses her face as she silently and slowly walks nearer to the wolf. Ears perked forward and tail at a comfortable position, she signals no danger, but to seek company. Talla's green eyes have a look of anxiousness and intuige as she comes closer to the wolf, but sits down at a fair distance.

Hebi's ears perk up and she slowly lifts her head and looks at Talla. A fail smile plays on her lips and she turns her head back to look up at the moon. Her thoughts becoming alive as the luna energy sparks her nocturnal instinct. She rises to her feet and walks over to her Alpha. she bows her head.
"Good Evening, Alpha Talla. What are your plans for the night, may i ask?"

"Oh the night is young, but still I haven't made a single thing to do!" A tone of disappointment rises in her voice, but she makes it obvious that this will not bring her down. Talla stood up and looked to her faithful member. "I was thinking a game of tug-o-war would be a bit passive, and a game of chase just doesn't seem like enough to calm my anxiousness." THe look of energy sparked back into her eyes. Her tail suddenly rose slightly, wagging back and forth. The grounds were quieting down, but there was still a night to enjoy! Lifting her head up high, she howled loudly to her growing pack. Not really knowing what to do was quite a problem for the young alpha, but a good hunt would wake her tired pack up. Plus, something needed to get all of her energy out. "Perhaps a hunt would do good?" Wagging her tail once more, she surveyed the area. Thrusting her nose to the ground, she smelt only her members, but she knew there was elk around. Trotting at a slow pace, she waited for either the smell of elk, or anything else to catch her attention.

Hebi smiled and nodded "A grand idea my Alpha!" She joined her young Alpha in searching for a scent of Elk. There were always some around at this time it was just finding out where they had wandered to. She trotted forward slightly and held her head up sharply. Something had caught her attention. Her tail stood stock still for a time and her ears swivled. "...Coyotes, Alpha" they are not too far away. Should we go and chase them off before we get harrased when we have our meal?" She smiled a little smile that showed her wish to chase these pesky vermen.

Surely it was not the most exciting thing Talla could ever have done, but at this time, she was wiling to do anything. "Of course! These coyotes need to know who is boss around here, and it sure isn't them..." Her voice traveled off as she sniffed around. The mixed scents of animals were plentiful, but it was easily distinguishable to find the coyotes. Walking slightly faster then earlier, she kept her sences awake. Her ears twisted in several different directions, but suddenly she stopped. Hebi obviously wanted tp chase these pests as much as Talla did. Looking over to her, she nodded her head to show that this was not yet a formal hunt, merely a game. She did not want Hebi to hunt, but to have a blast doing what wolves love to do; chase other things. Returning her gaze to the ground infront of her, she could hear some coyotes not too far in the distance. This was just a free-for-all, so no tactics would really take too much place. With a single growl and bark, Talla bolted to entice these two slightly different species in a head-on combat. Being extremely smaller then the wolves, they didn't stand a chance. Yeah it was supposed to be just a game of chase, but what fun is a game if you cannot nip a little?

Hebi laughed as she saw her Alpha bolt off towards the Coyotes. She followed Talla and then just before reaching her Alpha Hebi Swerved off to the left and wend round the back of the group of the now yapping and barking Coyotes. She laughed heartily as they scurryed this way and that to get away from the snapping jaws of the wolves and as they ran in unorganised directions. Hebi swirved and nipped the tail of one of the Coyotes. as it yelped and ran away she sniggered and shook her head. Coyote chasing was not usually very much fun but when they are being as easy as this it is almost possable to feel sorry for them...almost. She looked up and saw Talla chasing one of the larger Coyotes and then swirving and chasing some of the smaller ones. Hebi marvled at the dexterity of her Alpha and smiled. This was until she felt a nip on her backside. She yelped and turned around. a young Coyote had got the nerve to try and bite her. she growled, enfuriated at the creature and went to bite at it. it barked, whined and then ran off, tail between its legs. she snorted "bloody vermin...good for nothing in this world but a source of intertainment on slow moving nights"

Bolting in all directions, the wolves quickly overtook the coyotes. They had no chance, but that's what you get when messing in wolf territoy with wolf prey. If they really wanted food, they would have to wait until the wolves were done. Then maybe there would be food left to spare...maybe. Some coyotes actually had the nerve to approach the wolves, but most of them scattered, avoiding the growling, snarling, nipping, and biting wolves. Some actually started to bleed, but only because they refused to leave. Becoming slightly impatient, she began using more force against the coyotes. Quickly they scattered, some coming back, some leaving. As long as they did not try to mess with the food, Talla was good. Swerving to dodge another coyote, she quickly turned around to bite it in the rump. It squealed, but growled and turned to defend itself. Leaping at the coyote, she stood above it. The helpless looking creature whined, showing it's stomach. WIth a forceful voice, she came dangerously close to biting at the neck, but all she did was yell, "Leave now!" Stepping back, the coyote sprang up and bolted away. Happy that she had something to use her energy on, Talla walked over to Hebi with a slight smile. "Do you still have the energy for elk?" She cocked her head in curiosity.

Hebi laughed "I may be a little older then you, Alpha, but i am not so old that i cannot catch Elk after a little game of chase" She smiled and stepped to one side "the world is your oyster, you decide what we are to do and i will follow your every command" She bowed her head and a slight smile played appon her lips.

With Hebi's admirable energy and respect, Talla growled playfully. She was up for anything as well, but did not want to do it alone. She liked having her members involved with things, so this was exactally what she wanted. A smile approached Talla as well, but it faded into her eyes, with the look of intruige. The moon was climbing higher in the sky, and she did not want to miss out on this beautiful, clear evening. Wagging her tail once more, she quickly was able to locate a herd of elk, but this time, not with her nose but her ears. Some where digging at the ground with their hooves and...mooing or somethong, probably because they sensed danger from all of the coyote noise. Moving to a place behind a large tree, Talla easily spotted the target: an elderly elk away from the mass of others. He was surrounded by a few, but his old age and straight path directly leading to him made it obvious who they were going for. Talla crouched down slightly, moving very slowly against the ground. The grass was tall, but shrinking because of the incoming cold from winter. Luckily, she would be able to creep up close because of the grass, as well as some random bushes and rocks. Approaching the elk slowly, her eyes gleamed brighter with enthusiasm. This was going to be fun, as long as this old creature slipped up somehow. Deciding that the best time would be now or never, Talla was close enough to where she bolted out from behind a bush and leaped at the elk's thigh before it had time to turn and get an attack it. Biting hard, blood splattered out suddently, soaking her muzzle.

"A, Alpha?!" Hebi Ran at full speed towards her Alpha struggerling eith the Elk. She jumped and latched onto the Elks throat biting through its wind pipe with strong jaws. The animal struggled, unable to move because of Talla and unable to breath because of Hebi it collapsed to its knees, mooing weakly, watching its family running off through clouded eyes. It soon fell over onto its side and died. Hebi let go of its throat and respectivly stepped back letting Talla take the first meal from the carcus.

Not hesitating to feast, she completely ignored the other elk. It was a quick kill, but not surprising considering that the elk was weak, Talla had surprised it, and there were two wolves quickly there to finish it. Ripping off a piece of meat, she ate it rapidly, looking up every so often to hear jealous coyotes in the distance, but they had learned better then to try and steal from either Talla or Hebi. Gulping down huge chunks, the elk was quickly shrinking. When she had had her fair share, she took one last huge piece with a bone and walked a good distance away, but still within speaking distance. The coyotes could be heard over and over again, crying. She was satisfied, so she chewed slowly on this beautiful meat. The bone was soon visable, but there was not need to chew on it until all the meat was gone anyway. Her tail curled to the side comfortably, but seemed to move back everytime there was a strange noise in the night. Standing up with the bone in her mouth, she walked over to a rock where she could sit up higher. There was no rush, so the wolves could take their time.

after seeing that her Alpha was fed Hebi and the rest of the wolves rushed in to feed. tearing off chunks and scrapping. this feed was going to be good. even though it had been old the Elk was quite large. Hebi ripped off another slab of meat and swallowed it thoughtfully. she was full and went and sat next to her Alpha. "do you feel replenished, Alpha Talla?" she asked gently. "I feel that a good chase and a fine meal always sets me up to rest, does it not you?" she smiled.

Tossing her bone to the side, she sat up next to Hebi. "Oh I feel great! The night is moving slowly, but after such activity, it would be best to rest our stomachs." She smiled playfully, "Tonight for rest, we should just stay here. I feel no need to return to the small clearing considering there are no pups yet this year." Standing up, she yawned and stretched each leg individually. Allowing the pack to dispearse wherever within the area, Talla curled up into a circle near the rock, her bone close. Her eyes were still open, and she refused to sleep until every one of her members were well suited. She lay her head down on the ground and watched. The coyotes were in the far distance, the elk were surely to get far away before nodding off to sleep, and the wolves were just settling down. She yawned and closed her unique green eyes only halfway.

Hebi looks approvingly at her Alpha and layed down a little away from the pack, keeping a close eye (or nose as the case may be) on everything happening but because of a full stomach her eyes gradually closed and she fell into a sound sleep.
